Chloe Lamford

SET + COSTUME DESIGNER FOR THEATRE + FILM

Chloe Lamford is a UK-based set and costume designer. She trained in Theatre Design at Wimbledon School of Art, graduating in 2002. She won best design at the 2007 TMA awards and was shortlisted for the Linbury Prize for set design in 2003. Her work is diverse, ranging from straight theatre, devised pieces, opera, and dance to designs for film and television.

Design for theatre includes The Mother Ship, How To Tell The Monsters From The Misfits (Birmingham Rep), Antigone at Hell’s Mouth with the National Youth Theatre and Kneehigh Theatre at the Soho Theatre; Silence by Moira Buffini, also National Youth Theatre, Small Miracle by Neil D'Souza (Tricycle Theatre and Mercury Theatre, Colchester); Blue Sky State by Anna Reynolds (Mercury Theatre, Colchester); Associate designer to Es Devlin on Gaddafi: A Living Myth (ENO); La Calisto for the Early Opera Company; The Wild Party (Rosie Kay Dance Company); The Good Person of Sichuan (Birmingham), The Shy Gas Man (Southwark Playhouse); The Secret Ingredient, human/nature and Through the Walls (Trestle Theatre Company); Rough Cut (Riverside Studios); Holes and Wizzil (Nuffield Theatre, Southampton); Hamlet (Broadway Theatre Catford). Chloe has also designed various shows for the Watford Palace Theatre including Top Girls (main house), tours of Mother Courage, Fear and Misery in the Third Reich, The Crucible, and a site-specific project, The Ring Road Tales.

She has designed various short films and music promos for bands such as McFly and Fightstar, and has written and directed a short film, Being Venus, which is undergoing international festival submissions. Other work includes art director on Agent Provocateur's film starring Kate Moss, The Four Dreams of Miss x directed by Mike Figgis. She also recently production designed The Full Monteverdi, an opera film for television.
